Galapagos Art Space (USA) is in Ukraine and funding a program to bring Ukrainian Artist Families with Children under 18 out of the war:

We have two SAFE HOUSES:

SANCTUARY in the Azores, Portugal:

  • Free Airfare - both there and back - to the City of Ponta Delgada, on the island of Sao Miguel, for artist parent(s) and children

  • Free Shared Housing in a large converted Mansion with extensive grounds with other Ukrainian Artist families

  • Free Schooling with immediate enrollment for children

  • Free Health Care including mental health services

  • Free English and Portuguese language classes

  • Fresh food budget and possible per diem

  • All Artist Families Welcome: Single moms or dads, families with two parents or LGTBQ parents - any parent or parents with a child or children are welcome.

Background / Team

Galapagos Art Space is a multidisciplinary arts presenter that operated for twenty years in New York City.

  • Galapagos presented thousands of individual artists and helped hundreds of non-profit and social / community organizations fundraise

  • In 2015, Galapagos moved to Detroit and has most recently been engaged in philanthropic initiatives in Detroit and Highland Park, Michigan.

  • In 2020 it began a new biodiversity initiative in the Azores.
